Antoine Roy dit Desjardins-In Canada
Antoine Roy dit Desjardins arrived in Quebec June 18, 1665 as a soldier with the Froments Company, Carigan regiment.
While I was researching I learned that upon Antoine's arrival in 1665 he helped build Fort Ste. Louis. Fort Ste. Louis was located at the foot of the rapids on the Richelieu river near Montreal.
There were two other forts in the area, Fort Richelieu and Fort Sainte Therese. Antoine belonged to the company posted at Trois Rivieres for two years, from the fall of 1665 to the summer of 1667. (Pierre Le Clercq- translated by Ken Roy)
After the war Antoine worked as a cooper. He married Marie Major September 11, 1668 at Quebec City.
Marie Major was the daughter of Jean Major and Marguerite LePele born February 26, 1637 at St. Thomas de Touques, Lisieux, Normandy, France. Being orphaned Marie became a King's Wife arriving from France with a dowery given to her from the King of France, worth 300 livres.
Antoine Roy dit Desjardins lived with his second family, Marie Major and son Pierre in the St. Lawrence River area.
Antoine was murdered July 10, 1684 at Lachine near Montreal. Marie Major died December 8, 1689 in the hospital l' Hotel Dieu in Quebec City.
